Creation of ER&DI (Energy Research & Development Institute - Uruguay) is a natural and spontaneous response to the challenging situation of the energy sector at the national, regional and global
levels.
In contrast with NGOs, the ER&DI has been conceived as a private company, which provides more flexibility at the time of implementing cooperation agreements.
Activities to be performed by the ER&DI shall be characterized by integrating on its analysis and evaluations concepts of social
commonwealth and sustainable growth, even when its societal structure has a commercial identity.
ER&DI is legally named as “Energy Research & Development Institute S.A.”, and is duly registered at the Registry of Commerce in the Republic of Uruguay.
ER&DI is not a governmental institution, thus having not the responsibility to generate nor implement policies or regulations in reference to energy sector, while it is open to cooperate with the corresponding organizations in order to perform and/or support research activities on this field, as to provide support to policy makers and/or decision makers on their approach to regulations of the energy sector.
